I have published estimated
freelance rates, however I tailor my packages to my clients, and each rate is worked out on a individual basis to ensure affordability and quality of service. For example if the work is for a voluntary organisation, a charity or a start up, or even for personal use, I will work with you to a budget you can afford. I can simply type from the audio file, or should it be required, transcribe into a pre-formatted document, or format the text into a suitable format.
The professional industry standard allows ONE hour to transcribe 15 minutes of clearly recorded speech. It therefore takes a MINIMUM of 4 hours to transcribe a one hour recording. However, transcription can take much longer for focus groups, meetings, seminars and conferences with multiple participants - perhaps as much as 8 or 10 hours for one hour of recorded tape or a bad quality, unclear recording.
